IMPORTANT: DO NOT chase your pet with the brush in hand!
To introduce your pet to any of our therapy brushes, you must first approach them with the power OFF.
If your cat seems skittish, spritz the end of the Therapy Wand with a small amount of catnip spray.
Hold the wand near your cat's nose to allow them to self-brush while getting acclimated to the Therapy Wand.
Then begin by carefully removing any drool with the STOMA Therapy Wand starting at the end of the drool and lifting upwards toward the chin while rotating your wrist away from the face to wrap saliva around the outside of brush. Don't worry about cleaning the brush. The main purpose here is to lift and remove the saliva up and away from the skin. Saliva sticks to itself so you will want to get as much as you can onto the brush to help remove the smaller quantities from the fur. The brush has been designed this way! The more on the brush, the better it will clean the face, drawing more saliva up and off of the fur. We recommend not cleaning the brush between sessions in the beginning.
Next, attach the Steady Rest stand to the wand using the wrench tool provided to adjust for height. Once attached, slowly start moving the Therapy Wand along the face and chin still in the OFF mode until they seem comfortable and start enjoying the experience.
Then, while still moving the Wand, turn the power ON and continue. Just hold the brush and let your cat move against the bristles - they will indicate by their movement where they want to be brushed. Continue brushing with the rotation towards the back of the face.
After the drool has been visibly removed in each session, move to clean the tops of the front paws. Let your cat sit normally and gently brush the crusty areas of the fur. This will soften and break up surface drool that has dried, allowing it to be collected onto the brush or falling off of your cat. If your cat moves, don't follow them, let them guide you. Hold the brush steady, and they will start to press against the brush where it itches the most.
If there are larger portions or areas that have matted on your cat from lack of self-grooming, you will need to use the STorM brush attachment (see next section) on these areas. The STOMA Therapy Wand is only to be used on shorter fur areas.
The ReJuvetnator Therapy Wand is designed with a low noise volume, however, if your cat is still sensitive to the noise, continue to use the wand with the power turned OFF.
Therapy Wand Assembly & EZ Clean Instructions
This attachment is for use on your pet's body to gently cleanse and massage. It will quickly clean up all stomatitis debris and leave your pet feeling reJuvetnated! Use the power buttons in the direction pointing toward the tail and as illustrated in the diagram here.
For underbelly brushing, it is most effective to use both hands.
You'll find that your cat will continue to insist on brushing sessions with the STOMA Therapy Wand and the STorM long after the stomatitis symptoms have disappeared.
